Become a Part of Our Family
Calvary@Home volunteers are special people — of all ages, ethnic and religious backgrounds — who devote their time, talents and energy to our patients. For example, our volunteers sit with patients, deliver and read mail to them, distribute ice water, write letters for patients, or provide companionship. They are also an integral part of patient/family events, such as birthday parties, special events, and holiday celebrations.
Volunteering at Calvary is a great way for people to use their language skills. We always welcome people fluent in various languages — especially Spanish, Italian, Chinese or Russian — or those who have knowledge of different cultural practices. These skills are a huge plus for a place like Calvary that accepts patients from diverse backgrounds.
Calvary@Home volunteers provide companionship to patients in their homes or in nursing homes throughout the metropolitan New York area and offer respite to patients’ caregivers. Volunteer opportunities are available in the Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, and Rockland in the homes or nursing homes. Training is provided throughout the year and volunteers can call the Volunteer Coordinator at Hospice to schedule a meeting or to get more information.
